NEW DELHI: The Delhi police have formed five teams to pursue various leads in the mysterious murder case of Headlines Today journalist Soumya Viswanathan who was found shot dead in her car on Nelson Mandela Marg at Vasant Kunj here in the early hours of Tuesday.

“We are trying to find out if it was a case of road rage involving some unknown person,” said a senior police officer on Friday, adding that the line of investigation was still not fixed as a lot of facts were yet to be verified.

One of the teams is trying to find if anyone had seen any other vehicle chasing Soumya’s car on the fateful night.

In another development on Friday, some persons came forward claiming that they had heard a loud sound, probably a gunshot, around the time Soumya was passing by the area. The police are verifying their statements.

Appeal

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal has urged the public to share any relevant information about the murder.

The police are also screening calls received and made between 3-30 a.m. 4 a.m. from the area where Soumya’s body was found. They hope to get some clues to the identity of the culprit from the details of those phone calls. They are also screening calls made from Soumya’s mobile phone.
