JAMSHEDPUR: The police have recovered the body of a 45-year-old tribal woman allegedly beheaded for practising witchcraft in Kapali under Chandil police station of the Saraikela-Kharsawan district.

The police said the torso was recovered from the forest near Dobo on Wednesday evening. The body has been brought to the MGM Hospital here for post-mortem.

Investigators suspect that the victim identified as Rupu Tudu may have been killed by villagers for practising black magic. Rupu had been missing since Sunday when she was assaulted by a group of villagers for practicing witchcraft.

The police have so far arrested three persons in this connection. Search was on to recover the severed head.
