Advocacy

HelpAge has been voicing the concerns of the elderly and has been fighting for their rights for the past 25 years. It has been successful to a certain extent when in 1999 it helped formulate the government's National Policy on Older Persons. It has successfully lobbied for travel and tax concessions and other benefits for the elderly. Through various platforms, it has brought to light various issues concerning older people and spread awareness throughout the nation about the reality of their situation.

Some of the issues highlighted over the past few years are:

- Crime Against Older People

- Elder Abuse

- Loneliness among the elderly

- Remarriage after the age of 60

- Shrinking Finances of older People

- Health and Nutrition

- Active Ageing
