
VIJAYAWADA: Home minister
Sabitha Indra Reddy said on Saturday that a new legislation will be introduced
in the next assembly that would seek a minimum imprisonment of seven years for
those who carry out acid attacks including against women.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, the minister said the state government
would not tolerate any sort of violence particularly against the women. She said
that the ragging in educational institutions would also be treated as a serious
crime where all the players including the heads of the educational institutions
would be taken to task.
She suggested that the students to realise about the danger to their career and
put a halt to such inhuman practices.
Meanwhile, parents of engineering student Hebsiba who was killed by an auto
driver recently met the home minister and sought justice. The home minister
released an anti-ragging poster prepared by the city police at the guest house.
